Places to Sleep!
Cumby has some of the warmest and comfyist rooms around. Our awesome central heating keeps the college toasty warm for those cold Dunedin nights. The rooms have everything you need with a study desk, draw set and wardrobe (and, of course, a bed!).
Rooms with direct phone lines are available on a first come basis. University of Otago wireless internet access is installed throughout Cumberland College common areas and in every Cumby corridor!
Like relaxing in the sun and reading or chatting? Some rooms open onto balconies with views of the grounds and sport court.
Places to wash your clothes!
Duvets, linen and pillows are provided (YAY! no washing sheets for you!), with fresh linen available every week. Our washing machines and dryers in the Cumbie laundry room are free free free - just bring your own washing powder (we even have instructions on washing your clothes if you need them!).
Places to make snacks!
Each corridor has its own kitchenette with a jug, water filter, microwave oven and small fridge for you to make your late night snacks.
Accessibility
Cumberland is fully accessible for all people. With ramps, lift and wheelchair bathrooms, we are pleased to be able to welcome everyone!
Security
Our dedicated team work throughout the night to ensure you have the most safe and secure place to rest your head. You'll see our Night Staff, Erin and Tulli, wandering the halls at night and they're more than happy for a chat in the wee hours! We have Closed Circuit TV in several areas of the College for your additional safety and security. There are also limited Lockable bike facilities on site.
