Our Food...

Food at Cumberland...rocks! Cumberland boasts one of the most responsive and innovative kitchen teams at Otago. The Cumbie Kitchen team is headed by Kevin Strange, our Executive Chef, who has won numerous awards for his culinary abilities! Kevin doesn't have a team of cooks - he has a team of 1st Class Chefs to make your food.

Kevin and the team spend a huge amount of effort and time making the food at Cumbie what you want it - nutricous, healthy, filling - and most of all - TASTY! They're always keen to hear from you about the food and try out new things.

In the mornings you'll find the amazing Mel running the continental style breakfasts and helping you make those packed lunches (Mon - Fri) all that you want them to be. You'll also find Mel serving up the tasty satisfying lunches in the middle of the day! At lunch you'll find the health bar for those watching their weight and wanting to stay really healthy. Here you'll find a range of salads and other healthy foods, options to make your own toasted sandwhiches and you'll often find sushi or made-to-order omelettes!

In the evenings Sarah and the team will sort you out for dinner with multiple meat options, vegetarian and a range of eye popping veges and salads.

Breads, fruits, tea, salads, coffee and hot chocolate are served with each meal and a dessert to tempt the sweet palate is served most evenings with dinner.Dining at Cumberland

Got a late lecture or a sports practice? Don't sweat it we can provide late meals upon request!

Got a particular dietary requirement? Vegetarian and Halal food is always available and Kevin's team are able to cater for most dietary requirements by prior arrangement (Gluten Free, dairy free etc). Feel free to contact us and talk more about your needs!

As part of the social programme at Cumbie we have a number of Formal and "Theme" dinners throughout the year that are awesome fun.
